Prototyping-Oriented Software Development: Concepts and Tools

The book is intended for anyone who plans, designs and implements software products; for anyone who is involved with quality assurance; and hence for anyone who is interested in the software development process. More and more scientists and practitioners agree that the classical software lifecycle model and associated tools no longer suffice or are even unsuitable for handling problems that arise during software development. It is often assumed that prototyping can make a contribution to solving these problems.

The book strives to identify concepts and tools that support the prototyping-oriented development of software products, especially: - Software development methodologies: Various software development paradigms are compared and their advantages and drawbacks are discussed. - A new prototyping-oriented software life-cycle model and application scenarios. - A broad overview of various tools that support prototyping, and examples of their use. - A proposal for the conception of an integrated software development environment that supports prototyping.

Tools for sheet metal prototypes

Rapid sheet metal, Inc., specializes in rapid sheet metal ® prototypes, has developed a rapid tooling system for custom sheet metal hinges.  Utilities system's flexibility allows most sheet metal fabrications of custom hinge to be prototyped during two weeks for less than $ 1,000.
"When it comes to rapid manufacturing, every day, every hour and every minute really counts," said James Jacobs, President of rapid sheet metal Inc. "By eliminating the long lead times associated with punch press tools for hinges, mechanical engineers and product developers can test and iterate their designs which include hinges in weeks rather than months. "

Traditionally, designers are limited to hinges tools as their production sheet metal fabricator have in stock if they are willing to pay up to $ 5,000 and wait 2 or more weeks for the tool to produce their specific hinge design geometry.  Rapid sheet metal Inc admitted that this compromised the flexibility of their customers to design sheet metal parts such as cabinets, drawers, doors and covers.  After hearing numerous stories about frustration, rapid sheet metal Inc investigated the possibility of a low-cost, quick turn custom hinge tool systems and order, was able to implement it.
Custom hinge tool can be manufactured for rapid sheet metal ® parts made of aluminium, cold rolled steel and stainless steel.  Rapid sheet metal Inc also offers custom powder coating of any design, which gives a durable, colored finish and out sourced plating services.

Rapid sheet metal Inc strictly focuses on providing rapid sheet metal ® prototypes and time sensitive card run fabrications for new product developers and engineers. Typical quotation response time is within 24 hours and most of the parts are delivered in one to two weeks. A 48-hour fixed-wing prototype sheet metal is also available. Parts, brackets, racks, housings and enclosures are made up of data from Solidworks, Pro/E, inventor, KeyCreator/Cadkey, SpaceClaim 3D CAD data and other sources from stainless steel, cold rolled steel and aluminum.

Virtual global launches free Crash Course for developers who use PaaS tools

Reston, VA-virtual global today announced that it will hold an online workshop July 19 at 12: 00 a.m. Eastern Time, for developers who want to jumpstart their as-a-service strategies. Virtual global makes its SaaS Maker ™ platform-as-a-service freely available to participating developers. SaaS Maker contains online tools for rapid prototyping, build and integrate social programs.

The workshop is led by Cary Landis, CEO of virtual world; and Dan Blacharski, editor-in-Chief of Techie.com. The workshop is open to executives and developers of all types, including entrepreneurs, small businesses and large system integrators.

To register for the event, go to http://saasmaker.eventbrite.com. The workshop will introduce the concept of platform-as-a-service, the upcoming "dot cloud boom" and details that help students jumpstart cloud strategies. Participants will learn about SaaS development, deployment, application migration and modernization. Attendees will also see how a true multi-tenant SaaS applications can be built in 30 minutes and are available on request to global users. The presenters will also discuss hot topics such as how to avoid vendor lock-in, providing cloud services, and deploy applications across the data center.

"The world of software development is changing for small businesses thanks to PaaS," Landis said. "These tools have taken the mystery out of application development, and placing it squarely in the hands of business owners and entrepreneurs. If developing as-a-service apps for internal use, or as a part of an entrepreneurial venture, SaaS Maker offers an end-to-end, "concept to revenue" model that begins at conception and stays with you all the way to revenue generation. "

With SaaS-burning, can developers build, distribute and sell social business applications with zero initial investment, which represents a sharp contrast to just a few years ago when the actual lead time and financing of the project would have been required even for a simple development project. "Cloud-driven business models, launching a new wave of innovation," noted Blacharski. "This is what we call" dot cloud boom, "which has already made significant inroads in enable more startups, lowering barriers to entry and put meaningful development in the hands of more people on the front lines of business and innovation support services."

At the seminar teaches participants about the details of how to use SaaS Maker create apps, like the new "dot cloud"-trend and new business models and opportunities that it provides.
