Device solutions, Ltd. utilizing SchmartBoard for new Meridian



Drives Solutions Ltd., an embedded system design solution provider, has announced a partnership with Schmartboard, Inc. to provide added value for customers by allowing them to more easily add i/o and other hardware features to prototyped embedded integrated circuits.

The new Meridian/P Micro Development Board from device solutions based on Freescale MXS ARM920T.  The product allows one to transfer Desktop skills to the embedded world. The user can use the C # and Visual Studio Tools for developing Meridian/P.  Fast USB connection allows one to download and debug code directly on Meridian/P.

SchmartBoard has two major advantages over other circuit prototyping system.  First, they are small boards or circuit blocks, which physically connects together with mechanical bridges.  The other advantage is that hand soldering surface mount technology (SMT) components with SchmartBoards, is very lightweight, so users can prototype with most current SMT package types on the market.


"SchmartBoard looks at circuit prototypes from a circuit block perspective," says Neal Greenberg, Schmartboard's VP of Sales and marketing.  "Many development or reference boards from businesses ge engineers all the bells and whistles, a solution for all the possibilities.  This is expensive and unproductive.  Many times an engineer spends his time dissecting a Board to the functions that are really needed.  We believe that the boards should have core hardware, and engineers will then add the circle which blocks the needs rather than to take away what they don't need.  Device solutions has been providing its customers with this advantage by allowing them to physically connect to SchmartBoards to complete their hardware needs.
