About Mods4cars:
Mods4cars was founded in 2002 with the idea to add a highly demanded feature to the otherwise almost perfect Porsche Boxster: Comfort One-Touch roof operation while driving at slow speeds. The resulting product offered not only that, but also allowed quick and easy installation by just swapping out a relay box, thus leaving no traces and no permanent changes on the vehicle. The first SmartTOP roof controller was born.
The success of their first products in Germany and Europe prompted them in late 2004 to move operations to the USA, to be able to serve the American market as well as all other English speaking countries such as Australia, UK and South Africa from one central location. Their business has grown to a full fledged international corporation with an office in California and a full line of innovative products as well as distributors and installation partners all over the globe.
Being highly specialized in the development and distribution of after market roof- and comfort controllers since 2002 allows them to offer an unsurpassed level of competence and product quality. Their main goal is optimization of each individual product to a maximum in compatibility, usability and intuitive operation. They put greatest effort into development and quality checks of all their products to achieve this goal and meet all expectations of their customers.
The extraordinary success of their products is also based on the great communication with their customers, which usually already starts for each new product during the development and prototyping phase.

Students and hobbyists who are involved in electronics must eventually learn to hand solder components, which is often difficult, messy and frustrating. Even for those with experience, tight spaces can create a nightmare scenario. With the advent of SchmartSolder, anyone can now hand solder through-hole components no matter how close together they are. In addition, the soldering will look like it has been preformed by a pro.
SchmartSolder are loops of solder produced in just the right diameter to fit over the component leads. One places the solder over the lead and flush to the circuit board and simply touches the soldering iron to the SchmartSolder. The SchmartSolder quickly melts and flows into the hole. The result is a perfect, neatly soldered component with no cold solder joints or other flaws. A video showing the use of the product is viewable at: http://www.schmartboard.com/index.asp?page=resources_howto
“SchmartSolder is just another step in our mission to make ‘Electronics for Everyone’”. says SchmartBoard’s VP of Sales & Marketing, Neal Greenberg. “We previously perfected hand soldering of surface mount components with SchmartBoard|ez and with the addition of this new product, almost every type of electronic component on the market can be easily and flawless hand soldered. Our next step is to make reading electronic schematics easy for everyone which we will begin with the the launch of www.solderbynumbers.com on Sept. 8.”
The suggested retail price on SchmartSolder is $5.00 for 50 pieces and the product is available on SchmartBoard’s website and through SchmartBoard’s distributors.
SchmartBoardTM is committed to helping engineers, students and hobbyists develop electronic circuits faster, easier, and less expensively than previously possible. GL Studio was ultimately selected by Scaled Composites in 2006 after a competitive evaluation of display development tools. Of critical importance to Scaled Composites during the evaluation was the ability of a single toolkit to support prototyping, training and embedding. With the ability to meet these demands, DiSTI’s industry leading GL Studio toolkit was utilized to develop displays for the carrier, spacecraft, ground station, and flight simulator.
Scaled Composites’ decision to incorporate GL Studio throughout the entire lifecycle of their avionics displays showcases the unique design features and efficiency offered by GL Studio. Engineers with Scaled Composites employed GL Studio to rapidly prototype the complex avionics displays and seamlessly integrated them into the training simulator for extended human factors testing. The same displays were moved into the VMS Eve Aircraft and the VSS Enterprise SpaceshipTwo where GL Studio supported prototyping, testing, training and embedded paradigms for each vehicle.
The development of VMS Eve and VSS Enterprise represents the ongoing quest to develop the World’s first commercial passenger-carrying spacecraft providing private sector access to space, using an environmentally benign launch system. The VMS Eve Aircraft carries the VSS Enterprise Spacecraft to a launch altitude of over 50,000 feet. When released from VMS Eve, the VSS Enterprise rockets into space, providing occupants with a view of the Earth seen by very few and the opportunity to experience zero gravity. This launch system builds on the successful flights of SpaceShipOne, the predecessor to VSS Enterprise, which ultimately earned Scaled Composites the Ansari X Prize for Space Flight in 2004.
“DiSTI is honored to be an integral part of such a historic endeavor,” said DiSTI President Joe Swinski. “Scaled Composites is realizing the aircraft manufacturer’s dream and the vision DiSTI set forth for display development; one tool to streamline and unify the user interface experience from prototyping to training to embedded avionics.”
“DiSTI’s software has enabled us to meet all of our goals for avionics development thus far,” said Scaled Composites’ Avionics Project Manager, Peter Kalogiannis. “We evaluated many options in the beginning and found GL Studio to be easy to work with and the best fit for our needs. Their software tools were instrumental to our success.”
The VMS Eve carried the VSS Enterprise on its inaugural flight on March 22, 2010. The inaugural solo flight of the VSS Enterprise spaceship was October 10, 2010. For more information, please visit www.scaled.com or www.virgingalactic.com.

In summary, the patent covers a modification of circuit board technology. A normal Printed Circuit Board (PCB) consists of two main components on the surface. The solder mask, are the colored areas, and the electronic pads, which are the metallic areas. The electronic pads are on top of the solder mask, and this is where the electronic components are placed. This system works great when circuits are mass-produced using precise robotic pick and place technology. However, when circuits need to be hand soldered for projects or prototyping, the average engineer does not have the dexterity or expertise to do it. Alternatively, it is very expensive to have a custom PCB fabricated and parts assembled on it.
SchmartBoard’s new patent calls for the solder mask to be much higher than the pads. Additionally the pads are “pre-tinned” with solder. What this modification does is allow the electronic components to easily be hand placed by virtually anyone. Because the solder is already on the pads, a user simply takes a soldering iron and melts the solder to the component leads or runs the boards through a re-flow oven. This technology makes it virtually impossible to create shorts or bridges when hand soldering SMT components.
“Our technology is utilized by three main user groups: industry, education and hobbyists,” says Neal Greenberg, SchmartBoard’s VP sales and marketing. “It has saved significant time and money for industry, allowed SMT technology to be used in education, and has made it possible for hobbyists to use current component technology. SchmartBoard’s website has videos of SMT parts being soldered and offers a free demo board with chip for users to try for themselves before purchasing. Standard SchmartBoards with “ez” technology have a suggested retail price of $9.99 and are available through SchmartBoard’s website and leading electronic distributors.”

The Hilbond joins the existing Amadyne SAM 42 diebonder that is older and very flexible but slower. The latter is used for bigger dies and assemblies. The new, faster Hilbond is used for products with a medium to high placement rate and high automation level or for fast prototyping.
Robert Gade, the Industrial Engineer at ESCATEC who is in charge of the diebonding machines, added, “Having these two different diebonding machines not only increases throughput and accuracy but it also enables us to use the best machine for the job be it rapid prototyping or big dies. Rapid prototyping is particularly useful here at the Heerbrugg facility as this is where our Global R&D operation is based and it enables us to ensure that we get customers’ new products quickly into production.”
In keeping with ESCATEC’s philosophy of investing in the latest state of the art software and machinery, they have just added a brand new feature to the Hilbond. Wafer mapping that enables dies to be sorted by class or by light intensity into trays. This is called “bin-batch”. It can also place dies according to the quality or classes, as the product is requesting it. The quality class can be changed in an active running program, so that a change to the available material is quickly done, just in time. A wafer map can be created from a programmed wafer and custom classes can be created if needed. Partly unpicked dies on the wafer map can be exported and stored and a converter helps to process different file types.
The diebonding machines are located in ESCATEC’s MOEMS (Micro Optic Electronic Manufacturing Services) facility in Heerbrugg which is designed to meet the growing demand for miniaturised electronics. Miniaturised electronics and sub-assemblies can be manufactured at very high levels of cleanliness and technological precision under Class 5 and Class 7 cleanroom conditions. It is supported by the rest of the Group’s global operations that include the ability to ramp up to high volume manufacturing in Asia.

The release of GL Studio 4.2 packs significant technological advancements and incorporates several enhancements requested by the GL Studio community. The most notable update for version 4.2 is support for Python Scripting. Developers can now use Python scripts to create and modify GL Studio content from within the editor to simplify the interface development process. Additionally, the scripting capability enables the automation of repetitive tasks to reduce the overall time required to create complex interfaces.
The Photoshop Document Importer simplifies 2D panel development by automatically creating user interface elements within GL Studio from those layers and objects specified in Photoshop. The GL Studio 4.2 update provides strategic process and documentation improvements to the importer, increasing usability and broadening the solution set.
GL Studio is historically recognized for its superior real-time 3D user interface rendering engine. Building on that distinction, GL Studio’s new runtime implements several updates in graphical rendering techniques, to deliver ever increasing speed and agility.
GL Studio’s compiler compatibility is critical because the toolkit capitalizes on human readable source code. The new Meridian/P Micro Development board from Device Solutions is based on the Freescale i.MXS ARM920T. The product allows one to Transfer Desktop Skills to the Embedded World. The user can use C# and the Visual Studio tools to develop applications on the Meridian/P. The fast USB connection allows one to download and debug your code directly on Meridian/P.
“Device Solutions has made software prototyping end easy”, said Device Solutions CEO Martin Welford. “Partnering with SchmartBoard makes the hardware portion easy for our customers as well.”
The SchmartBoard system has two major advantages over other circuit prototyping systems. First, they are small boards or circuit blocks, which physically connect together using mechanical bridges. The second advantage is that, with SchmartBoards, hand soldering surface mount technology (SMT) components is very easy, allowing users to prototype with most current SMT package types on the market.
“SchmartBoard looks at circuit prototyping from a circuit block perspective,” says Neal Greenberg, SchmartBoard’s VP of Sales and Marketing. “Many development or reference boards from companies give engineers all the bells and whistles, a solution for every possibility. This is expensive and also unproductive. Many times an engineer spends his or her time dissecting a board down to the features really needed. We believe that the boards should have the core hardware, and engineers should then add the circuit blocks they need rather than taking away what they do not need. Device Solutions has given their customers this advantage by allowing them to physically connect to SchmartBoards to finish off their hardware needs.”
About Device Solutions Ltd.. (http://devicesolutions.net/)

An encyclopaedic guide to production techniques and materials for product and industrial designers, engineers, and architects.
Today's product designers are presented with a myriad of choices when creating their work and preparing it for manufacture. They have to be knowledgeable about a vast repertoire of processes, ranging from what used to be known as traditional "crafts" to the latest technology, to enable their designs to be manufactured effectively and efficiently. Information on the internet about such processes is often unreliable, and search engines do not usefully organize material for designers.Price: $95.00
Applications that would require fanSINK™ are generally those where air flow must be directed to a very hot semiconductor in order for it to operate at its fastest, rated specification. Also, if a system chassis hasn’t been optimized for thermal management, an active heat sink, such as fanSINK™, can act as a local air mover, cooling a specific chip that was untouched before. fanSINK™ can also be applied to engineering development to bring air onto prototype boards or chips during bench debug. Rather than taking a small desktop fan and focusing it at an alpha board full of probes, fanSINK™ may be clamped or taped on the target processor to provide cooling of the board during debug.

SchmartBoards connect together and are called “Electronic Circuit Building Blocks”. The purpose of SchmartBoard’s prototyping system is for users to easily hand solder components onto SchmartBoards using our “ez” technology, which makes soldering any surface mount component easy. When possible, connecting SchmartModules, which are popular functional circuit blocks, is even quicker and easier.
“SchmartBoard is similar in approach to software development, but for electronic circuit prototyping,” says Neal Greenberg, SchmartBoards VP of sales and marketing. “In software, one may design the core code and add popular software blocks around it rather than rewriting code that already exists. These SchmartModules are the equivalent of software blocks that an engineer would source and glue to his code. Why redesign or solder a popular circuit block such as RS232 for instance? We now have power and I/O SchmartModules and will be adding many more modules over the coming months.”
The Regulated Power Modules come in 1.5, 1.8, 2.5, 3.3, 5 and 9 volts. The suggested retail price for each is $15.

Quotes from the team
"Our website is the biggest source of information about our programs and the primary means by which we acquire new donors, supporters and potential adoptive/foster parents, unfortunately it is woefully inadequate and we don't have the resources to fix it," said Community Relations Manager of Rebekah’s Children Services. "We are very fortunate and excited to be chosen by ZURB, not only because we're going to get a great new website, but because we're going to be part of the process of building it and learning skills we'll need to maintain it moving forward."
"ZURB is stoked to work with Rebekah’s Children Services this year,” said ZURB partner Jeremy Britton. “Their team has an amazing energy that is vital to pull off a crazy 24-hour design hackathon. By working in close quarters with Rebekah’s Children Services, we want their organization to reach more foster kids who can benefit from their services and more supporters to expand on and improve their quality. We want to launch a new website and brochure in 24 hours, but also to teach the design methods and goal-oriented teamwork that will carry them throughout the rest of the year!”
Accomplishments from past ZURBwired Events
The total donation of our time and effort, as well as that of our partners and volunteers exceed $30,000 each time we run this. We have helped our nonprofits participants raise over $100,000 across our first three events, something we're incredibly proud to say!
Event Details
The ZURBwired event, beginning on August 18th, 2011 at 8:00 am and ending on August 19th, 2011 at 8:00am, will be held at ZURB’s headquarters at 55 North Third Street, Suite 100a, Campbell, CA 95008.

Commenting is expanding sales and Marketing Director Campbell Evans said;
"We believe that the introduction of the iPro8000 would have significant implications for a wide range of clients through LPE industry sectors. Large or full size components are no longer required, splitting and communication with the iPro 8000, more than twice our maximum CCA to build a platform. This increase in the size of the object will not only better economies of scale for large production runs, the CCA will also provide most of the precision and durability of the plastic parts that used to require splitting and joining.
Creating highly compelling, interactive prototypes with Axure that will impress and excite decision makers
In Detail
Wireframes, interactive prototypes, and UX specifications are among the fundamental deliverables of every UX project. They are also the most labor and time intensive to produce due to constant changes in business requirements. Given these circumstances, Axure is quickly taking over as the preferred tool for prototyping. However, prototyping in Axure is strikingly different from the conventional method of producing static wireframes and to rapidly develop interactive prototypes in Axure, you'll need to have a good understanding of the tool and its features.
Whether you are an individual practitioner or a member of a UX team, a consultant, or an employee, this book will teach you how to use Axure, one of the leading UX tools. You will learn to use Axure for producing top-quality deliverables and tackling the demands of rapid iterative UX projects of any complexity and size, and for any platform and device.
Axure RP 6 Prototyping Essentials takes a very pragmatic approach to showing you how to use Axure and produce impressive deliverables while saving labor and time. You may not be in a position to change how projects are scheduled, budgeted, and managed, but you can be more creative and productive by mastering one of the leading UX tools in the market.
After an initial introduction to Axure's user interface, terminology, and features, this book walks you through a medium-size UX project: a digital library that sells books, newspapers, and movies. Although some aspects of the prototyping process are simplified for the sake of clarity and efficiency, the demo project is an opportunity to discuss in context and in sequence topics such as addressing business and technical requirements, handling use cases and flow diagrams, low and high fidelity wireframe construction, interactivity, writing annotations, generating detailed UX specifications, and traceability.
For the most part, Axure 6 RP Prototyping Essentials can be read in sequence or used as a reference guide.
What you will learn from this book
Approach
Axure RP 6 Prototyping Essentials is a detailed, practical primer on the leading rapid prototyping tool. Short on jargon and high on concepts, real-life scenarios and step-by-step guidance through hands-on examples, this book will show you how to integrate Axure into your UX workflow.
Who this book is written for
This book is written for UX practitioners, business analysts, product managers, and anyone else who is involved in UX projects. The book assumes that you have no or very little familiarity with Axure. It will help you if you are evaluating the tool for an upcoming project or are required to quickly get up to speed in a project you just joined. The book assumes some familiarity with the principles of the User Centred Design methodology.
