SchmartBoard, a company that makes prototyping electronic circuits easier, has expanded its product range with a new Development Board to support users of the Texas Instruments microcontrollers. These boards use our "EZ" soldering technology to ensure quick, easy and perfect soldering. According to Texas Instruments online product information: (http://www.ti.com/product/msp430f5172)
"The Texas Instruments MSP430 family of ultralow-power microcontrollers consist of multiple devices with different types of peripherals targeted for different applications. Architecture, combined with five low-power modes, is optimized to achieve longer battery life in portable metering applications. The unit has a powerful 16-bit RISC processor, 16-bit registers and constant generators that contribute to maximum code efficiency. Digitally controlled oscillator (DCO) can wake up from low power mode to active mode in less than 5 µs.
MSP430F51x2 series microcontroller configurations with two 16-bit high-resolution timers, universal serial communication interface (USCI_A0 and USCI_B0), 32-bit hardware multiplier, a high performance 10-bit analog-to-digital (A/D) converters, on-chip comparator, three-channel DMA, 5-V tolerant I/Os, and up to 29 i/o pins. MSP430F51x1 series microcontroller configurations with two 16-bit high-resolution timers, universal serial communication interface (USCI_A0 and USCI_B0), 32-bit hardware multiplier on-chip comparator, three-channel DMA, 5-V tolerant I/Os, and up to 29 i/o pins.
Typical applications for these devices include analog and digital sensor systems, LED lighting, digital power supply, motor control, remote controls, thermostats, digital timer, hand-held meter, etc. "
The Board was co-designed by Texas Instruments and the University of Colorado's EE Department to address educational needs. With students in mind, it has been aggressively priced at just $ 35.00, fully populated and ready to go.
